Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer says US President Donald Trump evokes a "sense of strength" which Vladimir Putin is fearful of.

European leaders have met in Paris to discuss a single plan to bring an end to the conflict in Ukraine as senior US and Russian officials are set to meet face-to-face in Saudi Arabia.

“Donald Trump brings back a level of respect that we've been lacking for the past four years in particular,” Ms Spicer said to Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
