Renault has the solution for battery fires and offers it to everyone

Renault has developed a device to accelerate the extinguishing of a burning electric car battery. This "Fireman Access" point is now available free of charge to the entire automotive industry.
The Renault group is giving the entire automotive industry access to the Fireman Access patents. This device was developed through a close partnership between Renault and the fire department to put out an electric vehicle fire as quickly as possible. The fire can be brought under control in a similar timeframe to a petrol-powered vehicle, thanks to a simple little device.
How does it work?
A sealant disc covers an opening in the car's battery pack housing. This little seal makes sure the battery stays water-tight when the car is being used normally. But in the unlikely event of a fire spreading to the battery, the disc can easily be broken by the jet of water. This lets the cells fill up with water, stopping the battery from getting too hot and getting out of control. This way, the fire can be put out in a few minutes, compared to several hours and using ten times more water without this device.
