Sweden sends soldiers to Russian border

US military forces have been secretly transported by ship to Latvia. They will be deployed for six months to monitor the border with Russia.
The ultimate goal is to convince Russia not to challenge NATO's territorial boundaries.
The last time the Swedish military participated in a peacekeeping mission on European soil was in the 1990s. During that time, they partook in operations in Kosovo.
It was recently announced that Sweden will participate in NATO's Baltic Sea patrol mission.
On March 7th, Sweden became NATO's 32nd member country after a nearly two-year accession process.
