Major fast food burger chain closing new concept locations in 2025
Whether you're a fan of fast food or not, just about everyone has been to McDonald's at some point in their lives or has at least heard of it.
Despite being one of the largest fast food chains in the world, there is one unique McDonald's concept that only a select few have the pleasure of experiencing.
CosMc's announced the launch of its newest restaurant concept, which has a smaller format compared to their existing restaurants. Around the same time, they opened their very first location in Illinois, using it as a trial run for this new concept.
This café specializes in creative drinks, such as coffee, frappés, iced teas, lemonades, and energy drinks. It also offers a variety of breakfast items, like its signature McMuffins and new specialty sandwiches, plus baked goods, snacks, and a frozen treat, soft-serve ice cream.
Before the doors even opened, the news of this new concept spread like wildfire across all social media platforms, guaranteeing a sold-out opening day. This created a massive media sensation, with long lines and a flood of free publicity thanks to content creators who traveled to the opening to record for their millions of social media followers.
"People waited in line for hours, with some enthusiasts even flying in from as far away as the UK and France to experience CosMc's," stated McDonald's in a press release.
CosMc's viral popularity led to the opening of seven locations, one in Illinois and six in Texas. However, McDonald's now shares a mixed news update about CosMc's future.

However, McDonald's will also open two new CosMc's locations in Texas this year at smaller McDonald's locations. The company claims that this approach has been more effective due to its improved understanding of this type of new store format.
McDonald's has not yet announced the specific cities in Texas where new CosMac's locations will open, but they have closed two stores and have added a McDonald's location in Allen, Texas, marked as "coming soon."
McDonald's drops hints about new beverages and food items coming to their CosMc's menu

Although McDonald's didn't release any information on new menu items, they did mention that the most popular foods and drinks are the Island Pick Me Up Punch, Churro Cold Brew Frappe, and the Sour Energy Burst, and that Fruity Popping Boba is the top topping. In terms of food, Savory Hashbrown Bites is the best-selling savory item, and McPops is the top-selling sweet treat.
