Germany plans to send troops to secure Ukraine

Germany's defense minister stated he is willing to send German soldiers to Ukraine to guard a demilitarized area provided that a ceasefire is negotiated with Russia.

In an interview with the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper, Boris Pistorius also stated that Germany should target spending approximately three percent of its GDP on defense.

US President elect Donald Trump wants members of the NATO military alliance to allocate five percent of their nation's economic output towards defense, a proposal that has already been declined as excessive by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
